Project Results Recognized at International AI Conference in Tokyo

Project findings were presented at the International Conference on Advances in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AAIML), held March 20-22, 2026, in Tokyo, Japan. The conference was sponsored by IEEE SMCS, and attracted over 250 participants from 34 countries.

The research “Evasion of malware classifiers by injecting category-specific benign features” was selected for the oral presentation session “Cybersecurity, Malware Detection, and AI Safety” and earned the distinction of Outstanding Oral Presentation.

The study reveals that machine learning-based malware detection systems can be systematically deceived by embedding characteristic features of benign software, exposing critical vulnerabilities in current defences and reinforcing the project’s mission to develop more robust cybersecurity solutions.
